Overdraft Protection

An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money available in your account to cover a transaction, but we pay it anyway. We can cover overdrafts in two different ways:

  1. We have Automatic Transfers that come standard with your account. A transaction that would normally draw your account into the negative would first look at another eligible account, such as your Savings. If there are sufficient funds in this account, we will automatically transfer the sufficient funds to cover the transaction. If there are not sufficient funds, we will check if Courtesy Pay is active or reject the transaction.
  2. We offer Courtesy Pay, we may honor the insufficient transaction. If this happens, your transaction will be paid, and your account will be charged the standard $30 Courtesy Pay fee.

Automatic Transfer

Automatic Transfer Overdraft Protection is available to members as a safety net when transactions try to clear your primary account and the funds are not available. Automatic Transfer will automatically transfer funds from your other eligible account to cover the transaction, if there are enough funds in the account to transfer. Your account will be charged the standard $10 overdraft transfer fee.

Courtesy Pay

Courtesy Pay Overdraft Protection is a discretionary overdraft service. Rather than automatically returning or declining a non-sufficient fund item that you may have, we will consider authorizing and paying your reasonable overdrafts and apply our standard $30 per item to your account.

Avoid Overdraft Fees and Returns

There are a number proactive measures members can take to avoid overdraft fees:

  • Setup Account Alerts to be notified of transactions and/or low balances
  • Keep a registry of all of your account transactions
