Privacy Notice and Disclosure Statement

Equitable Federal Credit Union recognizes the important responsibility we have in protecting private information that you have entrusted to us and have developed the following privacy policy and approach that respects and addresses your needs. We believe that all personal and financial information that is specific to you that you provide to the Credit Union by any process constitutes personal information or nonpublic personal information.

Collection of Personal Information

  1. When you apply for a Credit Union account or service, we collect personal information that you provide in order to process your application or other forms. We may retain this information so that we can provide the products and services you request. We may also collect information obtained while verifying the information you provide on applications or other forms such as from your current or past employers or other financial institutions where you conduct financial transactions.
  2. When you open or use an account or service from Equitable Federal Credit Union, we retain personal information you provide in the context of using that product or service, including transaction information.
  3. After you sign up for our online services, our data system records certain online information, including the transactions you conduct online. This data enables us to process and confirm your transactions.
  4. When you send us e-mail, we will retain the content of the e-mail, your e-mail address, and our response in order to assure we have adequately addressed your inquiry and to handle any follow up questions you may have. We may also use it to measure how effectively we address your concerns.
  5. When granting credit, opening an account or providing any Credit Union service, the Credit Union may obtain information about you from credit reporting agencies.

Use and Sharing of Personal Information

  1. Equitable Federal Credit Union will use personal information as appropriate in the normal course of our business to provide the products and services that you requested. We will also use this information to provide positive identification of you when you contact us.
  2. We will not disclose information to third parties (excluding credit union affiliates) concerning your account with us, except: (a) when such disclosure is necessary to complete the transactions; (b) to verify the existence and condition of your account for a third party (such as a credit bureau) as is permitted by law; (c) to comply with any court order or applicable laws or regulations; or (d) when you give us your written permission.
  3. The credit union does not and will not sell or provide personal information to non-affiliated third parties for independent use. We may, however, share personal information with our credit union affiliates, as allowed by federal law.
  4. The Credit Union may also disclose information to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf or to other companies or financial institutions with which we have marketing agreements.

Accuracy of Personal Information

  1. Our intention is to exercise reasonable procedures in order to assure the accuracy of our records and your personal information. Should you bring inaccurate information to our attention we will correct it as promptly as possible. If you have any questions regarding the accuracy or your information, please speak with a Equitable Federal Credit Union representative. We will investigate your issue and update your records as needed.
  2. We request that you keep your personal information as current as possible so that you may receive the maximum member/owner benefits from Equitable Federal Credit Union. It is especially important that you inform us of any address change, including e-mail, so that we may communicate with you.

Protection of Personal Information

  1. The Credit Union restricts access to your personal and account information to those employees who need to know that information to provide products, services, and opportunities to you. The Credit Union maintains physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your non-public personal information.
  2. Equitable Federal Credit Union uses multiple levels of security, beginning with your browser and ending with the credit union’s operating system that functions as a virtual information vault inside the credit union. Information we receive via online applications is secure and requires industry standard Secure Socket Layer encrypted browsers.
  3. We are committed to continuing protection of the privacy of your personal information. As business processes change, we will review the measures we employ to protect member records and make changes to our information security practices and other internal control systems to take advantage of new technology.
